Sample Letter for My Organization/Supervisor/Director
Dear __________,
I am very interested in participating in the BIPOC Solidarity Collective with Healing Equity United. The Healing Equity United team has over 40 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and this 6-month cohort will allow me to strategize ways in which our organization can promote an equity culture shift and to network with other DEIB practitioners from across the country.
Who attends this cohort?
This cohort is specifically designed for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) working in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) at nonprofit organizations who are working to shift their organizations towards having anti-racist and anti-oppressive cultures. Oftentimes, BIPOC nonprofit staff (particularly those in white-led and mainstream nonprofits) feel isolated and unsupported. Recognizing that a majority of nonprofit boards, leaders, and funders are predominantly white, Healing Equity United saw the need to create a space for BIPOC staff to come together in solidarity for support, brainstorming, and growth.
Topics covered in the cohort:
BIPOC Collective Solidarity/Action for Advancement in Nonprofits
Our Oppressions are Tied — The Journey Towards Equitable Liberation
A Deeper Dive into Self-Care: Racial Trauma and Racial Healing
Racial Equity in the Workforce: Hiring, Retaining, and Motivating BIPOC Staff
Examining and Mitigating Our Own Internalized Oppression
Rewriting Our Narrative as BIPOC Individuals
Supporting Other BIPOC Staff in Nonprofits Experiencing Oppression
Calling In and Calling Out — Dealing with Pushback and Resistance in White-led organizations
How much does it cost to participate?
$5,500 (nonprofits w/ org budgets <$1.5 million)
$6,750 (nonprofits w/ org budgets $1.5 million - $5 million)
$8,000 (nonprofits w/ org budgets $5 million+)
I’d be grateful to have your support for my participation in the cohort by means of covering the cost of registration. It’s crucial for me to have a safe space to process, build connections, and learn with others who are going through similar experiences. By sponsoring my participation in the cohort, you are taking a step further in creating a supportive, inclusive culture of belonging at our organization.
Thank you for your consideration,
