Embracing an Anti-Racist Culture on Nonprofit Boards

If you've been trying to recruit diverse board members and having little luck, you're not alone. Did you know - 84% of nonprofit board members in the U.S. are White. Why is this? What can we do as nonprofit board members and executives to build an anti-racist culture on our board? How do we recruit and retain diversity so that our board reflects the communities we're serving?

This training is for nonprofit board members and executive directors who are looking to shift the culture of boards to be focused on anti-racism.

Goals:

  • Recognize how your current recruiting process may be inadvertently creating barriers for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to serve

  • Learn about new and innovative methods for diversifying your board that focuses on equity and inclusion

  • Understand how White supremacy cultural values shows up in nonprofit boards

  • Strategize next steps for your board and organization to take towards embracing an anti-racist culture

We recommend that at least two board members to this training in order to transfer the knowledge back to their organization. Come ready to learn, build, and strategize.

Materials and recording will be available to all participants.
