When power is concentrated in well-intentioned white women leaders and institutions, what can we do to address pervasive white supremacy?
March is Women's History Month. While this is a time to celebrate women's contributions to society and to recommit to the fight for gender equity, we know that women of color have a different (more difficult) fight for equity in the nonprofit sector (and beyond). White supremacy is embedded into our country's very existence, and the nonprofit sector is not exempt.
Given that across the country the majority of nonprofit leadership (including boards) identify as white, we need to address the ways in which white supremacy norms are perpetuated in our organizations. While white women may fall into an oppressed gender identity, this does not mean that they have avoided internalizing a sense of racial superiority.
This webinar will provide awareness on what it can look like for white leaders to unpack their biases and internalized superiority, how to call out/in white women in leadership, and how to disrupt the white dominant habits and make room for women of color to have a seat at the table.
